The short versionWe collect what we need to run a discussion forum and nothing else. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising, and we do not use analytics or tracking cookies.
Health informationYour profile can include your diabetes type, year of diagnosis, therapy, whether you use a pump or CGM, and the models you use. That is health data, and in the EU/UK it is a special category of personal data. All of it is optional — leave it blank and the app works normally. Anything you put in your profile, and anything you post or comment, is publicly visible to anyone on the internet, including people who are not signed in. Please do not post information you are not comfortable making public.
What we storeAccount: your email address, username, display name, and a hashed password (we never store the password itself). If you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your email address and basic profile details from them.Content: your posts, comments, likes, saved items, poll votes, follows and community memberships, plus any images you upload.Profile and preferences: bio, country, links, language, glucose unit, and the optional health fields described above.Technical: a session cookie so you stay signed in, and standard server logs kept by our hosting providers. We do not set advertising or analytics cookies.
Who processes itCloudflare hosts the application. Railway hosts the database. bunny.net stores and serves uploaded images. Google and Apple are involved only if you choose to sign in with them. These providers process data on our behalf so we can operate the service; some of them operate outside your country, including in the United States.
Your choicesYou can edit or clear any profile field, including every health field, from your profile at any time. You can edit or delete your own posts and comments.Account deletion is not yet self-service. To have your account and associated content removed, email hello@glucoaster.com from the address on the account and we will action it. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or object to how we handle it, at the same address.
RetentionWe keep your account and content until you ask us to delete it. Removing your account removes your profile and health fields.
ChildrenDiabetesTalk is not intended for children under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes and contactIf we change this policy materially we will update the date below and note it on the site. Questions or requests: hello@glucoaster.com.
